is a prestigious medical college, established back in the year 1951; it was dedicated by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and is Kerala's oldest medical college. The college was known in early records as Medical College (of Thiruvananthapuram), since it was the only medical institute in the state at its inception. The college follows the Kerala model and the state maintains health indicators in line with developed countries, above the national average. It has been processed by several agencies for use in other regions of India and developing countries. GMC Thiruvananthapuram has been developed as one of the All India Medical Sciences Institutes as it provides higher education care in Southern India. This medical college is affiliated with Kerala University of Health Sciences, Thrissur and is approved by the National Medical Committee (NMC).

It is compulsory for medical enthusiasts to appear on the National Qualification and Entry Examination (NEET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) after grade 12 wishing to obtain MBBS. All Government, Private, Intermediate and Tertiary Universities will be based on NEET schools and seats for all colleges / institutions / universities will be offered on advisory based on merit results / Standards, College preferences and available seats.
The GMC Library is located in the administrative section of the Thiruvananthapuram Library, and contains educational books and magazines related to medicine and related sciences. The GMC Learning Resource Center was established by an alumni college organization with computers connected to the Internet for paid use and to register for online medical journals. Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Library has more than a thousand national and international journals with e-subscriptions.
There is 2 Lecture Theater located at the Medical College with a capacity of 250 students each. Lecture Hall can accommodate up to 200 students at a time. His library is fully ventilated and equipped with an LCD and other audio-visual aids attached. There is also a college auditorium for various purposes.
The Hospital of the campus provides comprehensive health care to patients. It is the largest specialized hospital in South Kerala and serves the districts of Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam as well as the nearby districts of Tamil Nadu. The hospital includes a large hospital block, trauma care and an outpatient department. The hospital, which has 747 beds, accommodates 3128 patients per day and provides consultation with 7,500,000 outpatients per year.
Outpatient block houses include outpatient units for medical and surgical dispensary services as well as accommodation and qualifications. The hospital operates on an average of 55 large and 125 small and 35 cervical transplants and 15 surgeries per day. 90 to 95 percent of the beds are occupied throughout the year.
A women's and children's hospital was established in 1952. We were built by the royal family of Travancore to commemorate the death of Prince Sri Avitom Thirunal who died of rheumatism at the age of eight. The hospital is home to Obstetrics and Gynecology and Pediatrics. The OB-GYN Department manages antenatal clinics, obstetrics, infertility, neonatal clinics and vesicular-moles as well as joint research centers of the WHO and the Indian Medical Research Council. The hospital provides pediatric care in cardiology, neurology, and phrology, genetics, surgery and psychiatry, and has the highest rate of delivery in Kerala.
